Miller Scores Late, Canucks Beat Oilers 3-2 in Game 5
Vancouver takes 3-2 series lead
Canucks can clinch series Saturday at Rogers Arena
JT Miller scored with just 33 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night, giving the Canucks a 3-2 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series.
Miller's goal came after the Oilers had tied the game with just over two minutes remaining. Connor McDavid scored his second goal of the game to make it 2-2, but Miller's goal quickly extinguished any momentum the Oilers had built.
The Canucks were the better team for most of the night, outshooting the Oilers 37-27 and controlling the puck for long stretches. But the Oilers were able to stay in the game thanks to some timely saves from Mikko Koskinen.
The Canucks can now clinch the series with a win in Game 6 on Saturday night at Rogers Arena.
The Oilers will need to win Game 6 to force a Game 7 in Edmonton on Sunday night.
