Nick Mavar, a fisherman and deckhand on the Discovery Channel reality series "Deadliest Catch," has died. He was 38.
Mavar died Thursday afternoon in Naknek, Alaska, according to Bristol Bay Police Chief Jeffrey Eldie. The cause of death was natural causes, Eldie said.
Mavar was a native of Croatia. He joined the cast of "Deadliest Catch" in 2007 and appeared on the show for 16 seasons. He was known for his work on the fishing vessel Time Bandit.
Mavar's death is a loss for the "Deadliest Catch" community. He was a beloved member of the cast and crew, and his passion for fishing was evident in everything he did.
